During the residency I also actualized this series of unique ceramic sculptures where I combined my abstract ceramics with local second hand wooden parts. Peruvian way to use wood in architecture & furniture is very different from Scandinavian style and I found it very inspiring.

These works are also continuing my studies about being in balance / unbalanced, being broken and being repaired.

Sculptures made in Chazuta, Amazon rain forest

Sculptures made in Chazuta, Amazon rain forest

Hand build and wood fired ceramic.

During my residency I spent one week in Chazuta, a small town in Amazon rain forest. In Chazuta ceramics are made in the same way as thousands of years ago, using only clay and slips from local earth, tools made from fruit shells and seeds, brushes made from their own hair. Ceramics are fired with local wood. Nothing is needed to buy or bring from outside, and the knowledge goes from mother to daughter.
